Everything went the way for the Hemingford football team on Friday afternoon in their home contest against Bayard. Strong on both sides, the Cats bested the Tigers 64 to 0 to go to 3 and 0 for the year. Hemingford’s offense clicked on all cylinders while the Cats also got a safety on defense.
Hemingford had success on offense right off the bat. A touchdown pass from Jacob Bryner to end Gattlen Bell started the scoring. The play went 25 yards and with 10:15 remaining in the period, the hosts took the lead. Hemingford added the PAT. Ahead by 8, the Cats got a long touchdown run by quarterback Jacob Bryner in the first quarter to go up 14 to 0. The play covered 56 yards and with 6:10 showing on the clock, the Cats led by 14. Later in the opener, another run by Bryner pushed the Tiger deficit to 20. This TD scamper went 48 yards as the score went to 20 to 0 with 4 minutes remaining in the period. On Bayard’s next series, the Cats scored again on a safety to make it 22 to 0.
Ahead 37 to 0, the Cats extended their lead, thanks to a 13 yard touchdown carry by Zaine Feist. The remaining action went the way of the Cats. Hemingford was super on both sides and went on to post the shut win 64 to 0.
Running back Zaine Feist led the Bobcats with 94 yards on 13 carries. He also had 2 scores. Bryner had 2 TD passes in the air that covered 48 yards. Gattlen Bell had one catch that went 25 yards and a score. Overall the Cats had 376 total yards with 48 yards in the air and 328 on the ground.
Hemingford will play Kimball on the road on Friday.
