Bombs away! Dogs Sink 17 Threes in Win over Horns

Three games in three days. This best describes the Alliance boy’s basketball team schedule for the weekend. Game one started Thursday in Hyannis. Draining a school record 17 three pointers, the Bulldogs took down the Longhorns 77 to 29 for their tenth victory on the year. Senior Espen Lanik led the explosion by being Alliance’s top scorer with 24 points. Lanik hit 8 treys on the evening. Also scoring in double figures was Creighton Fritzler who tallied 10. AHS led 55 to 17 at halftime and never looked back.

Six treys in the first quarter by the Dogs got Alliance off to a super start. Lanik had 5 three balls in the first as Alliance put 28 points on the board. Devin Graham also had a 3 in the period. Rounding out the scoring in the first was Nason Thompson who had 4 while adding 2 tallies apiece were Fritzler, Braeden Clarke, and Jaden Guerra. The Bulldogs led the hosts 28 to 9 after the opener.

Red hot shooting by AHS continued in the second. Alliance nailed 7 treys to increase their advantage. Overall, the Dogs scored 27 in extending their margin. Lanik hit 3 threes while sinking a pair was Riley Best. Alliance also got treys from Fritzler and Trevor Zurn. Adding deuces were Fritzler, Clarke, and Guerra. Hyannis was held to just 8 points in the second as Alliance was up 55 to 17 at halftime.

Quarter #3 had the Bulldogs score 10 and the Longhorns tallying 8. Clarke had another 3 for the visitors. Also scoring for AHS in the third were Graham, Fritzler, and Best. Heading to the fourth, the Hyannis deficit stood at 65 to 25. Three more treys by the Dogs highlighted the finale. Tray Best led the way with 2 three pointers while Thompson also nailed one. Three free throws by Jaxon Poss rounded out the Alliance scoring. Final Dogs 77. Horns 29
