Box Butte County 4-H Staff have put together a variety of exciting summer workshops for youth ages 5 and up. Youth do not need to be 4-H members to participate in these events. The first event is a rocket workshop that will be held on June 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Hemingford. Up next is a beaded bracelet workshop on June 7 at the Extension Office. The annual Box Butte Livestock Judging Contest will be held on June 15. Registration will start at 8 a.m. with the contest starting at 9 a.m. Following the contest, youth can participate in a sheep and goat showmanship clinic and fitting clinic from 2 to 4 p.m. Then on June 16, there will be a swine and beef showmanship and fitting clinic. Swine will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and then Beef from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Clover Kid workshop will be held on June 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This workshop is just for youth ages 5-7. They will participate in a variety of hands on activities. The following day will be a sewing workshop at the Extension Office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Youth will take a pair of jeans and upcycle it to be a new skirt, they will make a beaded necklace, and also Batik a design for their own pillow. On June 26, youth and adults will have the opportunity to participate in a Barn Quilt workshop lead by Artistic Innovations. The event will be held in Hemingford at the fairgrounds from 1 to 4 p.m. Youth who are 9 to 12 will need an adult to help them but adults are also welcome to participate on their own. One June 29, the office will be hosting a Macrame Dream Catcher workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Extension Office. The last opportunity will be held on July 11 with a robotics workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Extension Office. Please contact the Extension Office at (308) 762-5616 to sign up your child.
