The Box Butte County Spelling Contest was hosted by St. Agnes Academy on February 3, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Schools participating included St. Agnes Academy, Alliance Middle School, and Hemingford Middle School -36 students from grades 6, 7, and 8 competed. Champion was Turner Anderson, Hemingford Middle School, Second Place was Aubrey Dudden, St. Agnes Academy, and Third Place was Arianna Prunedo, Hemingford Middle School. Additional awards were given for Poise – Arianna Prunedo (HMS), Best Sportsmanship – Aubrey Dudden (SAA), Best Enunciation of Letters – Eston Collins (AMS), Camaraderie Award – Abby Frost (HMS), and Spirit Award – Luz Delgado (HMS) The champion is eligible to compete in the Regional Bee in Omaha on March 14th. Next year’s contest will be hosted in Hemingford.
