Story: 4-H has taught me to be hard-working, independent, kind, and a leader. I have gained confidence by doing many projects and activities that are 4-H related. Also, I’ve gained not just friends, but a 4-H family that is made up of people that I know will support me my whole life, and who I aspire to be like. 4-H has helped me discover new clubs and activities such as livestock judging which has come to be one of my favorite things! This is my sixth year in 4-H, and with many more years to come, I am always proud to say “I’m a 4-Her.”

My name is Gavin Bell. I’m an eighth grader at Hemingford High School. I have many 4-H memories, but one of my favorites is from the past year, hanging out in the livestock barn with friends at fair. My favorite 4-H project is definitely my pigs. I’ve shown them for the past six years and I plan to show them for the rest of my 4-H career. I’ve also created a cookie jar and a couple of wood-working projects. I enter many things into Open Class as well. A goal I have for the 2021 fair is to be in the final drive of swine showmanship. I participated in it last year and I hope to get there again.

Hi, I am Macala Hood and am a Junior at Alliance High School. My 4-H experience has been filled with lots of friends and animals. I have shown pigs, goats, cattle, and horses. With this many animals, you learn a lot of new things and meet a lot of new people. My favorite 4-H memory was winning Champion and Reserve Champion Breeding doe with my home-raised does. My 4-H friends are the ones who will be my best friends for life – and that is my favorite part about 4-H! My goal for 2021 is to win senior showmanship for goats. I would also like to spend more time helping the future 4-Hers and encourage them to do projects in 4-H.

Hi, I am Braelyn Shrewsbury, a junior at Alliance High School. My favorite 4-H project is my hogs. I love watching them grow and seeing how each personality shines through in each hog. Some of my favorite 4-H memories are staying up late with friends and singing songs, playing cards, and just being with my favorite people for a whole week at fair! I also love watching my friends compete and succeed at what they love. My goal for 2021 is to win the senior showmanship in hogs. I have always wanted to win the showmanship buckle to prove to myself that my hard work has paid off.
