I’m Jayda Meyring, a sophomore at Alliance High School and this is my eighth year in 4-H. I show swine, horse, beef, and livestock judge. Even though I enjoy all these projects my favorite is the swine project. I have shown swine at the county fair, state fair, jackpots, and national shows for seven years. My favorite is the swine project as each pig is unique and has its own personality. Plus, I love showing pigs as it takes a lot of time and hard work to get a pig trained.
One special 4-H memory was when I won the round-robin in 2019. I had been working towards this goal for a long time and I was excited that my hard work paid off. I won this with my horse, Dolly, and also my pig, Izzy. Other favorite memories are anytime I’m judging. From the car trips to the contest to the actual judging contest, it’s always a good time.
This year my goal for the fair is to win Senior Swine showmanship and Overall Swine Showman. I am also just looking forward to showing and getting to hang out with friends again in 2021.
