BP Gets W over AHS

Solid guard play and a strong full court press powered Bridgeport past Alliance 48 to 32 in girl’s basketball action on Friday. The contest was played in Bridgeport. Due to low numbers by the hosts, there was no JV affair. Five Dogs got into the scoring column led by Freshman Reese Armstrong who tallied 13 points while Senior Addison Weber had 7. AHS was held to just 7 tallies and in the first half as BP led by 15. In the battle of the Bulldogs, it was Bridgeport controlling the action throughout. The hosts connected on 8 three pointers to getting the victory.

Five points in a row by the home town Dogs late in the first quarter gave BP the early advantage. Tallies by Bailey and Armstrong made the score BP 5 All 3 midway through the first. A 5 to 0 spree by the hosts closed out the first with the guests gown 10 to 3.

A pair of threes in the second gave BP a bigger margin. Meanwhile, Alliance would get scores by Armstrong and Weber to stay in the hunt. The second started with a 2 and 3 by the B Dogs as AHS fell behind 15 to 3. Both teams then found the scoring column with Alliance getting baskets by Armstrong and Weber. Up 18 to 7, the hosts ended the half with back to back buckets. Alliance was down 22 to 7 at halftime.

Bridgeport would again outscore Alliance in the third, besting the visitors 16 to 8. Seven quick tallies by BP put the Bulldog deficit at 22 with under 6 minutes left in the third. After another trey by Bridgeport and a deuce by Bailey, Alliance went on a 6 to 0 spurt to pull within 17 at 32 to 15. AHS would get 4 points by Brinlee Lanik and another 2 by Armstrong to make things interesting. Unfortunately, the home town Dogs were up for the challenge. The quarter came to an end with 6 consecutive tallies by BP as AHS fell behind by 23. A three at the buzzer by BP made it 38 to 15 heading to the fourth.

AHS had its best scoring period in the fourth, putting 17 points on the board. The visiting Dogs used 2 three pointers by Armstrong by one by Weber in outscoring BP 17 to 10 in the quarter. Four tallies by Olivia Krejci and a Weber basket is how the scoring in the fourth began for Alliance. With 5 minutes left, Armstrong added a free throw and a trey that made the board read BP 43 ALL 25. The hosts would continue their fine shooting next as a Bridgeport three was followed by another 2. Down by 23, the game concluded with 7 in a row by the guests. It began with a Bailey free throw and finished with threes by Armstrong and Weber. Final BP 48 ALL 32
