The Bulldog Backpack Program is set to continue providing food to hungry children in Alliance after receiving a $5,000 grant from Arby’s.
On Friday afternoon, representatives from the Bulldog Backpack Program gathered at Arby’s where they were presented the funds that were raised during the Make a Difference Fundraising Campaign.
The Bulldog Backpack Program works in conjunction with Alliance Public Schools to identify students in need. At the end of the school week, the students receive bags of food to ensure that they have access to food over the weekend.
The Alliance area Arby’s restaurant team selected the Alliance Bulldog Backpack Program to receive the grant from the Arby’s Foundation. The team has selected the program to be the local grant recipient for the past few years, with patrons donating $1 or more. Staff members have also taken on fundraising outside of the work place to raise more funds to feed Alliance’s students in need.
The Foundation anticipates issuing more than 200 local grants across the United States, having raised approximately $3.4 million. The Arby’s Foundation, which was formed in 1986, has provided more than $90 million to help youth in the United States since it was created.
