Three third quarter touchdowns were enough for the Alliance seventh grade football team on Saturday in a contest against Torrington. The Dogs went to shutout the Blazers 34 to 0 in a game played in Torrington. With the win, AMS improves to 1 and 3 on the season. EJ Garcia had a nice day for Alliance, scoring 3 touchdowns.

Due to low numbers by Torrington, there was no b game.

Torrington received the opening kickoff and found the going touch. The Blazers turned the ball over on the downs and Alliance went on the attack. Solid runs by Garcia and fellow back Trini Trejo gave Alliance the ball deep into Torrington territory. Garcia would end the drive by scoring from the 30 yard line. End of the first period, Alliance led 6 to 0.

An interception by Bulldog Braedon Clarke started the action in the second. Unfortunately a Dog fumble stopped Alliance from increasing their lead. Right before half AMS had another opportunity to score but an interception in the end zone ended the drive. At half Alliance’s lead was 6 to 0.

On the first possession of the second half, AMS would increase their margin. A Garcia T.D. run of 5 yards put the lead at 12 to 0. Clarke would scamper in for the PAT, making the score 14 to 0.

A Riley Best pick on Torrington’s next series gave the Dogs great field position. From the 35, Garcia scored his third touchdown as the Alliance lead grew to 20 to 0. The big period for the Bulldogs ended with a blocked punt by Connor Cardiff and a 5 yard score by Trejo. Nason Thompson finished the quarter by recovery an Alliance fumble on the PAT. Heading to the fourth, the scoreboard read AMS 28 Torrington 0. A 10 yard touchdown run by Dog Hunter Bridges capped off the scoring as Alliance went on for the 34 to 0 win.

Coach Mark Glesinger said, “We made a lot of plays in all 3 phrases- scoring 5 touchdowns, picking off two passes, and blocking a punt. The first teams did an excellent job getting a lead and we were able to get a lot of guys on the field.”

The season concludes with a pair of home games. On Tuesday, Chadron comes to town for a 5:00 game while the Dogs host Gering on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 9:00.
