Gering had no luck on their first try with Alliance getting nice tackles by AJ Garcia, Dreyton Perez, Karson Leisy. On the period’s final possession, Alliance got some positive gains by Leisy. The hosts then got into the scoring column when quarterback Bo McCune connected with Perez for a 47 yard TD pass. A QB sneak by McCune of 11 yards pushed the Gering deficit to 14. McCune tacked on the extra point and the teams went to half with Alliance ahead 16 to 0.
In period #3, Gering received the ball first and had no luck. A tackle by Alliance’s Tee Johnson on the kick return gave the visitors the ball at the 30. Good work by defensive players Hunter Jensen and McCune controlled the action. A hit by McCune caused a Gering fumble which was recovered by Liam Davis. Alliance turned the miscue into points with Perez scoring from the 36. Kendrick Escamilla Quick powered in for the extra point and with 5:26 showing on the clock, AMS led 24 to 0.
