Bulldogs Cage Tigers for Third Straight Win

A super defensive effort by Alliance girl’s basketball was on display Friday night in a contest against the Tigers of Mitchell. Alliance held the guests to just 14 points in winning the match up 46 to 14 in action played at Alliance High School. With the victory the Lady Bulldogs improve to 3 and 2 on the year. AHS also got the win in the JV battle, downing the Tigers 25 to 22.

Points were at a premium in the opening eight minutes of action. A bucket by Alliance’s Jaelynne Clarke gave the hosts the early 2 point lead. It was followed by free throw by Clarke at the midway point of the period as the Dogs moved ahead 3 to 0. The rest of the quarter saw both team’s defenses dominate. After one period of play Alliance led 3 to 0. A steal and score by Clarke began action in the second that pushed the Bulldog lead to 5 to 0. Alliance’s Addison Weber gave the hosts a 7 to 0 margin with a bucket at the midway point on the quarter. Down 7 Mitchell would finally get on the board with 2 free throws that sliced the Alliance lead to 5. The rest of the half though belong to Alliance. The Bulldogs would score the next 13 points of the period to surge ahead for good. Senior post player CC Hudson began the run with a basket and a three pointer. Six points by Clarke and a basket by Haylie Winter ended the half with Alliance up 20 to 2.

Mitchell would get on the board first in the third but Alliance responded with back to back three pointer by Junior guard Macey Seebohm. Another score by Hudson put the Bulldogs ahead 28 to 4. The Tigers answered back with 5 straight to get within 19 but the period ended with 15 consecutive points by the Lady Dogs. The hosts would get points by Clarke, Winter, Hudson, and Shyla Salcido during their run. Heading into the fourth Mitchell was down 43 to 9. In the final period Alliance sat their starters and would score 3 points. Bulldog subs kept the defense intensity in the quarter, holding the Tigers to just 5 points. A three pointer by Alliance’s Miah Marsteller capped off the game with the Dogs posting the win 46 to 14.

Stats had Clarke ending with a double double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Fellow senior Hudson finished with 9 points and12 rebounds. Scoring 6 apiece were Seebohm and Salcido while Winter was good for 5 points. Rounding out the scorebook were Marsteller with 3 and Weber with 2.
