Solid start strong finish that best described the Alliance JV boy’s performance Monday vs Sidney. A 21 point first quarter plus another 21 in the fourth led the Dogs past the Raiders 72 to 46 in basketball action. The contest was played in Alliance. AHS led by as many as 20 in the second only to see the guests pull within 7 in the third. The Dogs would then outscore the Red Raiders 21 to 7 in the final period in getting the win. Tripp Johnson’s 17 paced the Dog O while Dray Konopnicki added 14 and Cisco Cody ended with 11.
Red hot shooting by Johnson aided a solid start for the Bulldogs. Johnson made a 2 then hit 4 straight three pointers as Alliance went up 14 to 2. After a Cody free throw, the Dogs went inside to Konopnicki who scored 6 in a row to end the period. After one quarter, AHS led 21 to 6.
Sidney battled back in the second. The visitors outscored Alliance 15 to 13 to slice their deficit. A bucket by Konopnicki began the period. Alliance then got a deuce by Mason Winter and a 3 from Grayson Dibrito to stay ahead by double digits. The hosts then went on a 6 to 0 run thanks to tallies by Konopnicki, Dibrito, and Jayden Garcia. Sidney countered by scoring the final 7 points of the period. Alliance led 34 to 21 at halftime.
Period #3 started with another 3 by Johnson. Six consecutive tallies by Alliance’s Xander Narjes ensued as the Dog lead went to 18. Back came the guests. Sidney went on an 11 to 0 spurt that cut their deficit to 7 at 43 to 36. Cody ended the run with a three point play and 5 straight points by Dog Danny Jelinek ended the third quarter scoring. With 3 periods in the book, AHS led 51 to 39.
All Alliance in the fourth. The Bulldogs put 6 players in the scoring column to deny a Raider comeback. Up 51 to 42, Alliance went on an 11 to 0 run to go up by 20. Points by Cody, Jelinek, Konopnicki, and Dibrito led the offense . After a hoop by Sidney, the game came to a finish with the Dogs getting buckets by Konopnicki, Winter, Dibrito, Cody, and Narjes.
