Following a second place finish in McCook over the weekend, the Alliance volleyball took the floor on Tuesday with a battle with the Mustangs of Gordon-Rushville. Alliance held off the visitors in a close first set then cruised to a three set victory. The Bulldogs won 25-22 25-14 25-20 for their eighth win on the year. Earlier in the evening it the Lady Bulldogs downing Gordon 27-25 25-23 in the reserve match. AHS also won the junior varsity, defeating G/R 25-16 25-23.
Four straight points by the guests put down the Dogs down in set one. Alliance would get 3 kills by senior Jaelynne Clark to reduce its deficit to 6 to 4. The Dogs then would get kills by Regan Braun and Josie Sanders to knot the score at 11 all. The match remain tight with the scored tied at 13,14,15,16,17, 20,21,and 22. More kills by Clark and Braun kept the game close. Seniors Haylie Winter and Kinley Pfeiffer along with Braun would lead AHS in scoring in the first set with 3 points each. Tied at 22 the Dogs would score the set final 3 points leading with another kill spike by Clarke. Set one ended with Alliance winning 25 to 22
Play stayed close in set 2. Kills by Clark and Addison Weber and another kill by Braun made the the score 8 all early in the set. An ace serve by Alliance’s Taylee Thompson and a good spike by Weber put the Dogs up 11 to 8. The rest of the set saw more kills by Clark and Sanders as Alliance surged ahead. The Bulldogs would score 5 in a row to go up 19 to 12. Gordon would tack on 2 more points but it wasn’t enough. The final score of set two Alliance 25 Gordon/Rushville 14.
In set 3 Alliance grabbed the early lead thanks to super plays by Sanders, Clark, and Kaylee Henthorn. A kill by Braun increased the Bulldog lead to 11 to 6. Gordon would reduce their margin to 18 to 14 but an ace spike and block by Weber helped AHS stop the momentum. Another ace by Clark and block by Bulldog senior ended the match with Alliance winning set 3 25-20

Final stats had Clark leading attack with 18 kills and 3 points. Pfeiffer was also solid with 10 points and 5 points along with many super sets. Winter added with 7 points while Braun, Sanders, and Weber ended with 5 kills each.
