Burley Eugene Bearden, 87 of Alliance Nebraska died peacefully on March 23, 2020 at the Monument Health Rapid City Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Burley was born on July 3, 1932 in Hot Springs, South Dakota to Burley Wade Bearden and Sophia Matilda (Mattson) Bearden.
He graduated from Saint Agnes Academy in 1950 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951 and proudly served until he retired from the U.S. Navy in 1970 after 20 years of dedicated service to our country.
After the Navy, Burley hired on the BN Railroad in 1970 and retired from the railroad in 1997. He enjoyed his railroad friends and might have even played a hand or two of cards with some of them.
Burley married Donna Curry on December 6, 1958 in Alliance, Nebraska and was a wonderful husband for their 61 plus years together.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, F.O.E. and Fleet Reserve Association.
Burley enjoyed the outdoors, doing puzzles, sports, hearing about and watching grandkids, and was always willing to help anyone that needed it.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of Alliance, daughter Lori (Matt) Brennan of Ellsworth, NE, son Doug of Westminster, CO and grandchildren Shae, Mickenzie and Trey Brennan and Joshua, Briahna and Tyahnie Bearden and several special family friends, in-laws, nephews, nieces, their church family and wonderful neighbors over the years.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, mother-in-law and father-in-law John and Freda Blume.
Due to CDC guidelines, a small, private committal service will be held at the Nebraska Veteran’s Cemetery with full military honors.
Memorials may be made to the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or St. John’s Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
