Contest #2 of a doubleheader between the Alliance Prep club and Chadron was a heart stopper. The Spartans were down early but a late inning rally fell just short, losing the battle 5 to 4. The game were played in Alliance. With the loss , the Peltz Co dropped to 20-19-1 for the year. The Prep did win the first match of the twin bill 8 to 7. Alliance had 5 hits on the night and got solid pitching performance from starter Quinn Ferguson and reliever Dixon Bair.
All Chadron early . The guests scored three times in the first to take a nice lead. Using 2 doubles and 2 singles, Chadron jumped to an early 3 to 0 advantage. Alliance received a first frame knock from Esai Trejo but no scores. Two more Chadron tallies in the top of the second made it a 5 to 0 ball game. The Spartans broke thru with a run in the home half. Ferguson had a hit and scored Alliance’s first run following an RBI groundout by Roy Torres. With 2 innings in the book, the Peltz Co was behind 5 to 1.
Inning 3 went scoreless while reliever Bair kept Chadron off the board in the top of the fourth. The Preps had their best innings offensively in the bottom of the frame with 3 runs. Preston Flores began the burst with a single and later scored after a run scoring single by Logan Freiberger. The scoring concluded with a 2 RBI hit by Cooper Galles . The battle went to the fifth with the Spartans trailing 5 to 4.
Bair used a double play in Chadron’s final attempt by the Spartans to give Alliance a chance but the Peltz Co went scoreless in their last attempt bat. Final Chadron 5 Alliance 4.
