Here Comes Santa Claus!
Santa Claus is Coming to Town!
From Ray Conniff to Bruce Springsteen, we sing our songs of praise (and greed) to Jolly Old St. Nick!
Since I try to keep the theme of this weekly writing endeavor to sports, here is what I am requesting Santa deliver:
1. A full recovery for Patrick Mahomes from his December 14 knee injury. Mahomes is to the NFL as pumpkin pie is to Thanksgiving.
2. The Kansas City Chiefs return to the playoffs in 2026.
3. The end of college sports NIL and its transfer portal. Both are ruining athletics.
4. New rules that college football coaches cannot accept job offers from other schools until their team completes its season. That includes the bowls and playoffs.
5. A victory for the Nebraska men’s basketball team in the March NCAA tournament. It would be the first ever for the program.
6. Winning seasons for the AHS and HHS basketball teams.
7. A state championship for Hemingford wrestler Ryan Ragsdale. He is one of the truly great kids in Box Butte County.
8. The Husker baseball team qualifies for the College World Series in June.
9. At least ten wins for the Nebraska football team in 2026.
10. Another Big 10 championship for the Husker volleyball team.
11. A state championship for one of our Alliance Spartans baseball teams.
12. That I maintain my love for sports. Even though it is not the most important aspect of my life.
That’s probably enough for this year’s wish list.
