The Alliance City Council took action at their Dec. 3 meeting after swearing in its newly-elected members to reorganize, selecting a mayor and vice mayor to take the helm.
City Clerk Shelbi Pitt called the meeting to order, administering the oath of office to the council members who won their elections in November: John McGhehey, four-year term, Jay Weisgerber, two-year term, and Travis Turman, four-year term. McGhehey and Weisgerber were incumbents in the races, and Turman replaces Council Member Brian Mischnick.
Next, the council members cast ballots to elect the ex-officio mayor. The council voted unanimously to re-elect John McGhehey to serve as the Mayor. Ballots were then cast to elect a vice mayor. In a 4-1 vote, Tearza Mashburn was re-elected to serve as the Vice Mayor.
