The City of Alliance is excited to announce a city-wide Clean-Up Day on June 29, from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This event, in partnership with various volunteer organizations, aims to help residents dispose of unwanted items responsibly and free of charge. Join us in making Alliance cleaner and more beautiful for everyone to enjoy.
Event Details:
Locations: Three drop-off sites across Alliance:
Bower-Shankland Legion Field: 101 Mississippi Avenue
Knight Park: 6th Street/Dakota Avenue
Lakefield Subdivision (Old Community Garden Site): 2701 Big Horn Drive
Process for Residents:
Residents of Alliance are encouraged to bring their unwanted items to one of the three designated locations. Upon arrival, volunteers will assist in sorting items into two categories: Yard Waste and Construction & Demolition debris, plus a Keep Alliance Beautiful (KAB) recycling category. This streamlined process ensures efficient and proper disposal of materials.
Prohibited Items:
To ensure safety and proper disposal, the following items will not be accepted:
Tires: Must be taken to an appropriate facility with a disposal fee.
Items with Freon: Including refrigerators, freezers, A/C units, and some water dispensers. Must be emptied by a certified Freon technician with proper documentation.
Oil: Must be taken to a facility that accepts waste oil.
Contaminated Soil: Must be brought to a solid waste landfill.
Dead Animals: Must be buried or taken to a solid waste processing facility.
Containers of Chemicals: Household size containers only; larger or hazardous chemicals are not accepted to prevent potential chemical reactions.
Dry Chemicals: Depends on contents; contact us for guidance.
Asbestos: Must be triple-bagged and taken in a covered vehicle to an appropriate facility.
Radioactive Materials: Must be brought to a hazmat disposal facility.
Flares, Explosives, Ammo, etc.: Must be taken to a hazmat disposal facility.
Paint: Must be dry; liquid paint is not accepted.
Car Batteries: Can be returned to certain places for a core charge.
Liquids: No liquid waste accepted.
Medical Waste: Includes pills, syringes, biohazards, etc.

Volunteer tasks may include:
Assisting residents with waste disposal at designated drop-off locations.
Sorting and organizing collected materials.
Offering assistance to residents who are unable to bring items to collection sites by arranging pick-up services.
