Clean Sweep in 800 Lifts Jr High Cats to Fourth Place at Conference Meet

A 1-2-3 finish in 800 was key for the Hemingford boy’s track at their junior high track conference meet held in Morrill on Thursday. The Bobcats ended the day fourth overall with 75 points. Hemingford’s highlight of the meet came in the 800 where the Cats got a first place effort from Andrew Miller, a second place finish from Fletcher Moseman, and a bronze medal from Zane Frost. In the mile, Moseman was the winner with a time of 5:41. The Bobcats also won the mile relay with members: Miller, Frost, Moseman, and James Lanier. Bridgeport won the boy’s team race with 119 points with Bayard second with 95 points. There were 7 schools taking part in the event.

With 50 points, the Lady Cats ended in 6th place overall. Top finishers for Hemingford was Kamryn Haas who was second in both the 100 and 200 hurdles Mitchell won the girl’s title with 116 points with Gordon-Rushville second with 107.

“Cooler temps, but conditions were great to compete in. Athletes bought into warming up appropriately and staying warm, and they compete well. The HS boys claimed the WTC Championship for 2025, scoring in each of the 17 T&F events. The HS girls claimed bronze as a team. They were in the hunt for gold the whole day. JH boys and girls competed well. The JH boys were leading points after the running events. Continued work in the field events will help them earn more points there in the future. JH girls are finding success as a young team as well,” said Joshua Dean.
