Community Table Becomes Independent Nonprofit, Begins RFP Process for Coordinator

Community Table has taken the steps to become an independent nonprofit. Community Table started in the Summer of 2018 by the Alliance Poverty Task Force to serve school children and their families during the summer when the school lunch program was not offered. It became clear that the program was needed year-round and the Community Table Advisory Committee was formed as an offshoot of the Alliance Poverty Task Force and began offering meals year-round in October of 2018 operating under the Box Butte County Family Focus Coalition. Community Table provides a meal 11:30-12:30 Monday through Thursday with two meals given on Thursday for anyone that needs a meal.

The step to be an independent nonprofit allows Community Table to continue to serve the community and provide the opportunity to focus solely on its mission that no one leaves hungry. As part of the reorganization, the Community Table Board is seeking requests for proposals (RFP) for the Community Table coordinator position. The Community Table Coordinator is a paid independent contractor that is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Community Table to ensure smooth and efficient operations serving those in need. Some of the duties include serving as a volunteer liaison, recruiting and training volunteers on how to prepare and serve meals to the public, including cleanup duties and sanitation procedures to ensure a meal is prepared each day Community Table is open.

For more information about Community Table or for information on the RFP process please contact Community Table Board President Tammy Suit at alliancecommunitytable@gmail.com . All RFPs are due by April 15. The RFP process ensures Community Table remains viable and able to serve those in need well into the future.
