A prescribed fire took place on Saturday, April 12. These prescribed burns occurred on two separate tracts of land currently leased by the Nebraska Game and Park Commission, which are located on airport property in an effort to eliminate heavy grassland thatch areas and to increase plant diversity. The Alliance Fire Department in cooperation with the Nebraska Game and Parks staff participated in the controlled burn. Weather and wind conditions were monitored prior to the controlled burn.
