At their meeting on May 17, the Alliance City Council took action to amend the employment agreement with City Clerk Tarrah Johnson, making a change to her compensation.
Johnson has served as the City Clerk since she was appointed on March 21, 2020, taking on the role from City Clerk Linda Jines. Under the terms of the original agreement, Johnson was set to be compensated with an annual salary of $65,270.43, with the option for council to amend the salary every year. The terms allow for annual cost of living adjustments to be provided to Johnson, as they are provided to other city employees.
The Amendment to Employment Agreement sets Johnson’s annual salary at $73,031.20 as of May 17, 2022. The Amendment also offers Johnson an incentive for continued employment.
“As compensation for continued services to be rendered by Johnson, and as an incentive for continued employment in her position as City Clerk, Johnson shall receive an additional amount of $1,500 following each annual job performance evaluation, if the majority of council provides Johnson at least a satisfactory job performance evaluation,” the Amendment states.
The Amendment also allows Johnson to receive additional incentive if she does not leave the position before July 1, 2022.
“As additional compensation for continued services to be rendered by Johnson after the effective date of this Amendment, and as an incentive for continued employment in her position as City Clerk, Johnson shall receive an amount of $1,500 if she continues her service as City Clerk without resignation, notice of resignation or termination for Just Cause until July 1, 2022,” the Amendment states.
The City Council members who were present voted unanimously to approve the amendment.
