The Panhandle has seen its third COVID-19 related death. The recent fatality was a woman in her 90s with underlying health conditions, who lived in Scotts Bluff County.
“We offer our sincerest sympathy to her family. Increased precautions remain critical against the virus, especially to protect our most vulnerable in the community,” Director of Scotts Bluff County Health Department Paulette Schnell said.
As of press time, the Panhandle has had 243 coronavirus infections since March 2 out of 4,879 people tested. Of those 243 cases 88 are active, 152 are recovered and there have been three deaths.
Panhandle coronavirus cases are listed below:

Banner County has one case that is recovered.

Box Butte County has three cases that are recovered.

Cheyenne County has 15 cases with four still active and 11 recovered.

Dawes County has four cases with three still active and one recovered.

Garden County has four cases that are recovered.

Kimball County has 10 cases that have all been recovered.

Morrill County has 14 cases with four still active and 10 recovered.

Scotts Bluff County has 191 cases with 76 still active, 112 recovered and three deaths.

Sioux County has one case that is still active.
The Panhandle has moved toward decreased restrictions, which are part of Gov. Ricketts’ third phase in the Directed Health Measure, which began Monday.
Panhandle Public Health District recommends individuals take the following precautions:

Stay at least six feet away from others. Close contact and exposure are considered less than six feet apart for 15 minutes or more.

Wear a mask when social distancing is not possible.

Wash hands and sanitize frequently.
