It was a roller coaster start for the Alliance St. Agnes track teams as the Crusaders kicked off their season last week. St. Agnes had their first meet of the year cancelled in Chadron but then had 2 nice weather days when they traveled to Bayard and Grant. At Bayard the Crusader boy’s squad finished third with 65 points while the Lady Crusaders ended with 32 points which was good for sixth place. Paz Cody was top finisher for the Lady Crusaders, winning the 800. Gold medalists for the boys were Mason Hamilton who won both the 200 and long jump, Asher Saka in the mile, and the 2 mile relay. Team members of the victorious relay team were Saka, Gabe Busch, Tripp Johnson, and Jackson Devlin. Results from Grant had the 8th grade girls scoring 44 points which was good for fourth overall. The seventh grade girl’s team tallied 84 points and ended third overall. In the boy’s division, St. Agnes 8th grade boys scored 52 points and finished fifth while the seventh grade team placed second with 112 points. First place finishers were Kimber Freiberger and Reese Armstrong for the girls. Armstrong won the pole vault while Freiberger won the mile with a new school record of 6:25. Saka won the boy’s 800 and Coy Childers won the pole vault.
