CSC Celebrates Ivy Day

Graduating Chadron State College seniors were honored Friday during Ivy Day, a traditional event since 1920, sponsored by the Blue Key and Cardinal Key national honor societies.

Ivy Day royalty elected by the student body are King Cooper Reichman of Dalton, Neb., and Queen Kayla Brown of Glendive, Mont. The King’s attendants are Cordell Farmer of Kit Carson, Colo., Harrison Goeke of York, Neb., Seth Studnicka of Sidney, Neb., and Minh Duc Le of Saigon, Vietnam. The Queen’s attendants are Jaylee Shaw of Sidney, Neb., Quinn Koop of Madrid, Neb., Carlee Brownawell of Hershey, Neb., and Grace Redinger of Hastings, Neb. Junior attendants to the queen candidates are Ella Redden and Vivian Ritzen, daughters of CSC employees.

The Cardinal Key orator was Quinn Koop of Madrid, Neb., and the Blue Key orator was Seth Studnicka of Sidney, Nebraska. The faculty greeter was Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jim Powell who is retiring in June.

Platinum Eagle winners are Creighton Harrington of Loup City, Nebraska, and Bryan Zutavern of Dunning, Nebraska. The award, considered the highest honor a CSC student can receive, is presented annually to one male and one female for distinguished leadership and service. Runners-up were Cade Stephenson of Alliance, Neb., and Katelyn Bach of Burns, Wyo.

The students crowned as royalty and the Platinum Eagle recipients were just some of the outstanding graduates who received accolades. Many students were recognized for their accomplishments by their academic departments, as well as those who will graduate Saturday with honors.
