Alliance saw two new city council members and one incumbent take the oath of office before undergoing the reorganization of the Alliance City Council at their meeting on Dec. 6.
Mara Andersen, Mike Dafney and Tearza Mashburn were sworn in by Kelly Keller before heading into the reorganization process. Andersen and Mashburn replace outgoing council members Annora Bentley and Earl Jones.
During the reorganization process, the council voted unanimously to re-elect Dafney to serve another term as mayor of Alliance.
“Before we move to the vice mayor, I just want to say I appreciate the vote,” said Dafney. “Thank you to all; thank you especially to the new members. I’m more than excited you are here. It’s nice to have some young people to step forward. Congratulations, and thank you for being here.”
Council members also voted unanimously to re-elect Council Member Brian Mischnick as the vice mayor.
