The Angels came and took Darleen M. Vogel home on January 27, 2021.
She was born December 12, 1927 in Scottsbluff, NE to Conrad and Elizabeth (Dietrich) Steinbrecker.
She attended Roosevelt Grade School and Scottsbluff High School. She worked at the Swift Packing Company until she met Leonard Vogel and was married to him on April 28, 1946.
They lived in the Bayard and Minatare area and finally settled in the Alliance area in 1955 where they actively engaged in farming. Darleen raised a huge garden to feed their 6 children and various nephews throughout the years. Darleen was known for her homemade salsa and potato salad. She loved to read, loved garage sales and the casino, but Darleen’s greatest joy was when children and families gathered around her table.
She is survived by her 6 children, Vern and Marcia Vogel of Alliance, Vikki and Gary Bolek of Hemingford, Cheryl Neafus of Lincoln, Steve Vogel of Alliance, Keith and Jo Vogel of Lakeside and Lori Vogel of Lincoln. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Survivors also include her brother, William (Bill) Steinbrecker of Junction City, KS and numerous sisters and brothers-in-law.
In addition to her parents, Darleen was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Vogel, her step-father, Alex Meter and her sister, Esther Harimon.
Due to Covid concerns, private family services will be held at a later date.
