Mr. David Ray Navarro, age 52, of Empire, Alabama was called home Monday, September 27, 2021. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
David was born and raised in Alliance, Nebraska where he was married to Tracy Shepard. To this union, two children were born. Later in his life, he was united in marriage with Marci. He was very active in the community and volunteered many hours of his time with the Oldtimers, Baseball Association where he coached and was an umpire.
He was employed with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway for 23 years where he worked at many locations across the system; working in the mechanical department, management, and currently as a conductor in train service.
Dave was very talented at woodwork and carpentry. Anything that he did, he did it with pride and confidence and was very meticulous. Dave loved the outdoors, spending his free time fishing, hunting, and barbecuing. His favorite place to be during fishing season was Lake Minatare. Dave always had a smile on his face and was always willing to drop what he was doing to lend a helping hand. When Dave moved to Birmingham, he promised to never let his love for the Nebraska Cornhuskers go. We all know that Dave is in Heaven because God needed him up there to do work.
He is survived by his wife, Marci Navarro; son, Tyson Navarro (Carly); daughters, Kaylea Faber (Tony) and Tiffany Elliott (Jesse); sister, Nita Peterson; stepbrother, Ron Batt (Darcy); stepsister, Jennifer King (Steve); stepfather, Richard R. Batt; grandchildren, Rylea and Remi Faber, Nora Navarro, Abby and Amelia Elliott; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives; and he was also a “Doodle Dad” to Marlee and Harper.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Navarro; mother, Sharon Tucker Batt; and sister, Cecilia Marie Navarro.
