A controlled buy conducted by law enforcement resulted in the arrest of a woman who is now charged with distributing Fentanyl.
Paige Debus, 31, was arraigned in Box Butte County Court earlier this month on the charge of distributing an exceptionally hazardous drug, Fentanyl, a class 2 felony. According to the Affidavit and Application for Arrest Warrant filed in the case, an investigator with the WING Drug Taskforce conducted a controlled buy using a confidential informant on Nov. 7, 2022, with the informant set to purchase six Fentanyl pills from Paige Debus.
The informant was to meet Debus at her residence in Trailerville while investigators observed. When the informant entered Debus’ residence, Debus was identified by her voice.
“Paige Debus stated she had more pills coming to town within 45 minutes but she had the pills the CI (Confidential Informant) requested,” the Affidavit said. “The CI left the residence after a short conversation and then met at a predetermined location.”
The investigator received a rubber ball in the shape of a pumpkin that contained six pills the investigator believed to be Fentanyl, according to the Affidavit. The informant told the investigator that Debus sold the pills to the informant and that someone was bringing more pills to Debus.
“CI also stated that Paige Debus stated that she had to sell pills to make a living because her Social Security barely pays the rent,” the Affidavit said.
If Debus is found guilty, Debus faces a minimum of one year in prison and a maximum of 50 years in prison.
