The dedication ceremony for St. John’s United Lutheran Church Greenhouse Ministry is an event steeped in purpose and community spirit. Scheduled for June 29 at 1pm, this special occasion invites the public to join in celebrating the unveiling of the Greenhouse—a meaningful tribute to Russell and Darlene Finch’s legacy. Donated by Russell, the Greenhouse stands as a testament to St. John’s commitment to combating hunger in Box Butte County, producing an array of fresh, nourishing crops.
Following the dedication, attendees will have the opportunity to tour the Greenhouse, discovering lush rows of tomatoes, peppers, beans, and onions alongside radishes, strawberries, carrots, beets, lettuce, and kale. Fruit trees, including lemon, orange, lime, and fig, add their own budding bounty to this verdant treasure. The name of the Greenhouse will also be unveiled during the afternoon festivities, further enhancing the day’s significance.
Concluding the ceremony, a reception will offer delectable baked goods made from the Greenhouse’s produce, prepared by Earl and Patricia Jones. Guests can look forward to enjoying a celebratory strawberry shortcake, crafted from some of the very strawberries nurtured within the Greenhouse. It promises to be an afternoon of gratitude, growth, and gastronomic delight. Join us in witnessing this remarkable dedication and sharing in the fruits of community endeavor.
