Dee Ann Lewis Obituary

Dee Ann Lewis was born in Broken Bow, Nebraska December 25, 1951. She departed this life at Box Butte General Hospital on Friday, April 1, 2022 with family and friends by her side.

Dee Ann was raised in Custer County, Nebraska where she attended grade school at Copsey and Westerville and then graduated from Ansley High School in 1970.    She attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln where she played softball.  Dee Ann remained an avid Husker fan throughout her life and has followed many Husker sports.

Dee Ann received her real estate license in 1977.  In 1979 she moved to Alliance, Nebraska and became co-owner of Town and Country Realty.

Dee Ann was involved in community activities in Alliance and loved supporting sports and the arts.  She loved the game of golf and was an active member of the Skyview Golf Course.  Dee Ann belonged to the Panhandle Senior Women’s Golf Association and she enjoyed spending time with a special group of women on annual golf and gambling trips.  Shopping was another of her passions.

Dee Ann married Joe Lewis on April 8, 1987 in Galesburg, Illinois.  “Grammy Dee” loved spending time with her 3 grandchildren, and was very close to her nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews. Dee will be remembered for her love of life, her love for her family, and her long list of friends.

Dee Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Phylbert Scott as well as Joe’s parents, Henry and Patricia Lewis.  Dee Ann is survived by her husband, Joe Lewis; son, Joseph Scott Lewis (Carolyn) and their three children (Carter, Addison and Reid) of Fort Worth, Texas; her brother, Edwin Scott (Ruth) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, sisters; Sandra Hock (Larry) of Cozad, Nebraska and Jean Ramsey (Don) of Aurora, Nebraska; brother-in laws, Mike Lewis (Cindy) of Raymore, Missouri and Greg Lewis (Judie) of Naples, Florida; and her sister-in law, Rebecca DeWitt-Earley of Cape Coral, Florida.  She has 16 nieces and nephews.

Visitation with family present to greet friends will be held Friday, April 8 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel.   A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 9 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church where she was a member.

A reception with refreshments will be held following the ceremony at the West Side Event’s Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Alliance Ladies Golf Association, the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department or the donor’s choice.
