Dog Wrestlers Win Ogallala Dual Meet; End Event with a 5 and 0 Mark

Tensions were high Saturday at the wrestling dual meet in Ogallala. Eight school took to the mat, looking for a team title. With a perfect 5 and 0 record, it was the Bulldogs from Alliance winning the trophy. AHS took down Mitchell 35 to 34 for the championship. Earlier in the day, Alliance posted victories over Sidney, Sutherland, Mullen, and Gothenburg to advance to the finals against the Tigers. Other schools taking in part were the host Ogallala and Chase County.

Alliance’s quest started with a thriller over Sidney. Both squads finished with 40 points but the Dogs won the tiebreaker by recording more pins. Alliance’s second match was against Sutherland where the Dogs downed the Sailors 38 to 19. Match #3 was against Mullen. AHS got the W over the Broncos, posting a 47 to 24 win. Next up was Gothenburg. The Bulldogs bested the Swedes 39 to 24 to move on to the finals where a one point win over Mitchell gave AHS the team title.

Alliance had three undefeated wrestlers on the day. Both Coy Childers at 132 and Trini Trejo at 138 went 5 and 0 for the event. Colton Johnson ended the day at 1 and 0 with four forfeits at 190.
