Double Double by Seebohm Not Enough in Bulldog Loss to North Platte

Despite a 16 point 14 rebound effort by Bulldog Macey Seebohm, the Alliance girl’s basketball team dropped a 60 to 23 contest to North Platte on Friday. The ball game played in North Platte saw Alliance play very well in the opening half but a 17 to 3 scoring deficit in the third period proved to be too much to overcome. With the loss, AHS falls to 0 and 3 for the year. North Platte also got the victory in the JV contest, defeating Alliance 50 to 13.

Points were tough to come by in the opening stages of the first quarter. Two North Platte free throws at the 5 minute mark gave the hosts a brief lead. Alliance countered with a well run out of bounds play that concluded with a trey by Bulldog Paz Cody that gave the guests a lead at 3 to 2. The rest of period had NP score a three pointer and 2 free throws while Seebohm added one from the charity stripe for the visitors. After one period of action, the Lady Bulldogs trailed 7 to 4. North Platte was the aggressor early in the second. Five points by the hosts put their lead at 12 to 4 before a two pointer by Cody sliced the Alliance margin to 6. A three ball by Seebohm and a 2 pointer by the Bulldog senior made the score 12 to 11. At the 4 minute mark, the teams traded buckets with the Alliance score coming again from Seebohm. The half closed with NP going on an 11 to 2 run to push their lead to 25 to 16 after 16 minutes of play.

Any hopes of an Alliance comeback were denied early in period #3. North Platte scored the quarter’s next 13 point to surge ahead by 22 at 38 to 16. A goal by Seebohm plus a free throw by the Bulldog guard stopped the run but the quarter closed with North Platte out in front 42 to 19. Alliance could muster just 4 points in the final 8 minutes of play. Two free throws by Seebohm and a two pointer by Bulldog Shyla Salcido would account for the lone points by the guests.
