Floyd Eugene Heimbuch of Dallas, TX, passed into the arms of God on September 16, 2024. He was predeceased by his son, Thomas Allan; his parents, Immanuel Heimbuch and Lydia Heimbuch Jordan; three sisters: Carol Dicken, Mildred (Mitzi) Picasia, Trudy Smida; and two brothers: Raymond Heimbuch, Harvey Heimbuch.
Floyd graduated from Scotts Bluff High School, NE in 1951. He attended Scotts Bluff Junior College and then was accepted into the School of Dentistry at the University of Nebraska. He practiced dentistry for 34 years in Alliance, NE. In 1997 he retired and moved to Dallas, TX.
Floyd was very community minded and served on several boards, including the Nebraska American Cancer Board, the American Dental Association (was Nebraska’s Speaker of the House for several years). He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Elks Club Member, UNL Alumni lifetime member, and charter member of the Friends of the Library. He was awarded the Lions Club “Melvin Jones Fellow” Award, which is their highest honor given. Floyd loved baseball and coached Little League teams for many years. He is also listed in “Who’s Who in America.” Last, but not least, Floyd was an avid Cornhusker fan.
Floyd was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He served on the U.S. Mt. McKinley and then was stationed in Yokuska, Japan with the Military Sea Transportation Service (MSTS) for three years.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sharon (Meininger) Heimbuch; son, Paul Heimbuch and wife Patti of Frisco, TX; two grandsons: Ryan A. Heimbuch and wife Jessica (and three great-grandchildren, Theodore, Julian, and Evelyn) of Plano, TX; Nathan C Heimbuch and wife Alyssa of Port Orchard, WA; a sister Delores Weinmaster and husband Richard of Torrington, WY; brother-in-law Fredric (Tony) Meininger and wife Marianne of Altadena, CA and many nieces and nephews.
