Driver Cited in Truck vs. Train Collision

No injuries were reported in a Friday evening collision that occurred between a train and a truck at a crossing on Madison Road.

Cody Thomas, Public Relations Director with the Nebraska State Patrol, said that the Nebraska State Patrol was dispatched to a collision at a railroad crossing on Madison Road north of Alliance near Highway 385 at approximately 4:15 p.m.

“Preliminary investigation shows that a Ford F-150 pulling a trailer was westbound on Madison Road north of Alliance,” said Thomas. “It failed to stop at the railroad crossing and was struck by a train. The pickup ended up on the west side of the train and the trailer remained on the east side.”

Thomas explained that the driver of the truck was cited for failure to stop at a railroad crossing. The track and roadway were closed as crews worked to clear the scene, and they were reopened at 5:45 p.m.
