The commissioner appointments for District 2 and District 4 of the Nebraska Dry Pea and Lentil Commission is open for appointment by the Governor. Applications will be due by close of business Monday, May 01, 2023. Tyler Hughes, the current member representing District 2, and Logan Govier, the current member representing District 4, have indicated they will seek reappointment.
Qualified candidates include those who are citizens of Nebraska, are at least 21 years of age, have been actively engaged in growing dry pea and lentils in Nebraska for a period of at least five years, reside in a county in the respective district for which the candidate is applying and derive a substantial portion of income from producing dry pea and lentils.
District 2 represents the southwest corner of Nebraska and stretches north to Cherry County.
District 2 includes the following counties: Cherry, Grant, Hooker, Thomas, Arthur, McPherson, Logan, Keith, Perkins, Lincoln, Chase, Hayes, Frontier, Dundy, Hitchcock, and Red Willow.
District 4 represents the whole state as an At-Large board member.

The Nebraska Dry Pea and Lentil Commission administers the excise tax of 1% of net value of dry pea and lentils marketed in Nebraska at the point of first sale. The board invests the funds in programs of international and domestic market development and improvement, policy development, research, promotion, and education.
