Edward Anderson Wearin, Jr. (Andy) passed away August 5th, 2021 in Cheyenne, WY.
Andy was born in 1948 in Council Bluffs, IA to Ed and Helen Wearin. He enjoyed growing up on the family farm in Red Oak, IA and working on the family ranch in Hyannis, NE in the summer where his love for horses, cattle, and roping blossomed. He attended prep school at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire. He graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Ag Business.
Wearin managed the Prairie States Feedlot in Alliance, NE for 13 years before managing the Wearin Bros. Cattle Company in Hyannis, NE. Wearin married, Georgeann (Darden) Sheets in 2000. The couple enjoyed working on the ranch and raising her three sons, Tucker, Coy and Trey.
After selling the ranch in 2012, Andy and Georgeann moved to Cheyenne, WY where they owned and operated the Riata Ranch Event Center. The couple relocated to Crowley, TX in 2019 to enjoy retirement.
Wearin enjoyed steer roping, reading, travel, and following his kids and grandkids in all of their activities. Andy was a kind man who loved to help others and was a true gentleman in every sense of the word.
Wearin is survived by his wife of 21 years, Georgeann; three step-sons-Tucker (Melissa) Sheets and children, David and Lydia of Hyannis, NE; Coy (Mikaela) Sheets and children, Avery, Elsie and Lyle of Miles City, MT; Trey (LaTasha Wieferich) Sheets of Hyannis, NE; Sisters-Elizabeth Wearin and Sarah Wearin Smith of Red Oak, IA and Catherine Wearin of Cheyenne, WY; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
Services for Andy Wearin will be held September 18th at 10AM at the Hyannis, NE high school with internment to follow at the Hyannis cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Senior Steer Roping Association at P.O. Box 1653, Canyon, TX 79015 where a year end award will be presented in his honor for the sport he enjoyed so much.
