An electrical issue is believed to be the cause of a vehicle fire on Thursday morning, sparking a quick response from the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department.
The fire took place in the driveway of a residence in the 2800 block of Laramie Drive. AVFD Chief Troy Shoemaker explained that when they got to the scene they saw a blaze engulfing part of the vehicle.
“When we arrived on scene, we had flames shooting from the engine compartment that had potential to infringe upon the garage, but it did not,” said Shoemaker. “We just did a normal attack. It just took us a few minutes to knock down the actual fire. With the metal of the vehicle, we just made sure it was nice and cool before it was towed off. It just took us a few minutes once we had the line pulled and water on the fire. Most of the time spent there was making sure it was cool and determining the cause.”
Shoemaker explained that he conducted a phone investigation with an investigator to determine the cause of the fire.
“The cause of the fire is leaning toward electrical, in the area of the battery in the engine compartment,” Shoemaker said.
