Electronics Take Back Sees High Turnout

The electronics take-back event, organized by Keep Alliance Beautiful and the Nebraska Recycling Council, saw a large turnout on Saturday.

Kathy Worley, Executive Director of KAB, explained that the event was organized following a grant that was written by the Nebraska Recycling Council.

“They included Alliance in their grant, and they arranged for trucking and pickup from American Recycling,” said Worley.

Worley said the event was a success, overall, despite having to close early due to the rain.

“We did get rained out, but, really, we were only a couple of totes shy from filling up the semi,” Worley said. “We had a good turnout.”

According to information provided by KAB, a total of 313 items were taken back. The event saw 77 people with a total of 70 vehicles.

People who have electronics they wish to have taken back may bring them to the recycling center located at Second and Cheyenne Avenue. Worley said they are able to take items back from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost to take back electronics is $1 per item.
