The Alliance Emerson Elementary School hosted a field day for students on May 13, where families were encouraged to watch their students participate.
Emerson Elementary’s annual field day was filled with children’s laughter and cheering from family members, where students participated in events that revolved around camping.
“Our theme this year was camping. So, a lot of our activities are centered around things that you would do if you were to go camping. At either K.O.A. or a primitive camp site, we’ve got camping clothes over here where they’re doing races, and we have a sleeping bag, a gunny sack race, fox, fox wolf it’s like duck, duck goose. There’s a variety of activities that our kids are going to enjoy throughout the course of this morning and this afternoon,” said Principal Steven Folchert.
The end of the school year tends to be a hectic time of year for students and families. The field day is hosted annually to ease some stress and let students have a day off from learning and have some fun.
“The end of the school year gets to be a little hectic. It’s fun for them to be able to come out and play some games together. It gives them some exercise, fresh air and sunshine,” said Kindergarten Teacher Stacey Romick.
