Esteban R. Sanchez was born on September 2, 1921, in San Marcos, TX to Lazara (Rosales) and Leonardo Sanchez. He left this world peacefully on January 29, 2022, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, surrounded by numerous family members.
Esteban enjoyed telling family stories about flying airplanes in his home state as well as working on several vehicles in his garage that he built. Awhile after he retired, from the City of Alliance, he loved to care for his garden and kept his lawn the greenest on the block! He enjoyed drinking coffee with family and friends at Arby’s or McDonalds. The most memorable moments of Esteban were visiting family and friends on his front porch. He shared lots of smiles and laughter with everyone he loved for over 100 years.
Esteban was a very proud father of his 16 children. He is survived by Felipe (Jayne) Sanchez of Alliance, Ne, Johnny (Margie) Sanchez of Alliance, Ne,’ Gloria (Ralph) Vallejo of Garland, TX, Daniel Sanchez of Alliance, Ne, Rose Vasquez of Alliance, Ne, Juanita Sanchez of Alliance, Ne, Donald Sanchez of Alliance, Ne, Debbie Sanchez (Rob Blumanthal) of Alliance, Ne, Stephanie Sanchez of Alliance, Ne and Monica Sanchez of Alliance, Ne. He also has 32 grandkids, 71 great- grandkids, and 28 great-great-grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lazara and Leonardo Sanchez, his sisters and brothers, Eulalia, Lojinha, Paul, Bonifacio, and Bascilio and also his sons, Esteban “Nuno”, Alex, Leon, Michael Pete, and the twins Jesus and Esteban.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Matt Koperski officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 9 from 1-6 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home.
