As God finished the second letter to the Corinthian Church, He asks them to examine themselves: “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you – unless, of course, you fail the test (II Corinthians 13:5). Most of the time we consider how others see us. Are we keeping up with society? Is our clothing acceptable? Do we have the right possessions? In the above Scripture, God asks us to examine our faith. What effect does Christ have control of our life? Note that God knows some will fail the test.
God asks His people to guard themselves in Mark 13:33, “Be on your guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time (Christ’s return) will come.” I Corinthians 16:13-14, will help when we examine ourselves: “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.”
It is good for all Christians to regularly take time to seriously examine our faith. We certainly do not want to fail that most valuable test!
