Hopefully April showers will bring May flowers, and bring them to our wonderful sunken garden that is underway for a remodel!
At the end of last fall, they completed excavating the flower beds, removing all the walkways and stairways, then replacing them with beautiful new cement ones. So, those are done, next will come the drainage work—huge tubes are sitting down there now to be put in so that there is proper drainage and no floods in the garden.
Our pillars themselves arrived in late fall. They are sitting down at K & L Wood in huge crates.
Once the bottom of the garden’s cement is in, they will be putting footings down to hold those beautiful pillars and arbors.
The floor of the gardens will be different. In the center there will not be beds, as it will be cemented in, for weddings and functions, it will give more room for seating. Also, the different flower beds surrounding it, will be raised to different heights, so that they could be used for seating as well.
There will be electricity available, so whether you have a wedding, recital, singers, bands, poets, graduations or receptions, there will be a place to hook up microphones and speakers. There will also be a permanent small rounded stage to the north side of the garden for these functions.
It will be handicap accessible to the lower part of the gardens!
The landscaping is expected to happen in late May, pending all the work being completed to that point,(weather will play a huge part in this). Then the last thing will be the dedication ceremony, which we are expecting to happen the middle to end of June, if everything is done. We wanted to wait a little bit to make sure all the plants have a good start and look pretty.
There will continue to be updates as things are happening, I can hardly wait!
My crew did some amazing things, KL Wood, is building the dream, and the City Alliance has pulled together and made it happen. Yep, we are the Best Hometown anywhere!
