Fifteen Hits Helps Navy Squad Get Past Cheyenne

On Saturday, May 24 the Alliance Peltz Co legion Navy baseball club traveled to Wyoming for a pair of contests. Game #1 the Spartans took down the Braves from Cheyenne 14 to 2. Offensively, the Spartans pounded out 15 hits to improve to 6 and 7 for the year. Alliance scored in all four of their at bats and held the Post 6 team to just 2 hits. Jayden Garcia went the distance on the hill for Alliance. Garcia struck out 6. Three Spartans had 3 hits. They were: Teagan O’Gorman, Casyn Nelson, and Dixon Bair.

Cheyenne batted first and used a walk and a single to move out to a 1 to 0 lead. In the bottom of the opening inning, the Peltz Co had their best offensive inning. Alliance put 5 tallies into the scoring column. O’Gorman started the rally with a walk and advanced following a single to Nelson. A passed ball by the Braves then scored O’Gorman that tied the game at 1. The Spartans then surged ahead with an RBI hit by Carson Stull. Following a walk to Israel Garcia, Bair came up big with a 2 run triple. The huge inning then came to a close with a run scoring single be Miguel Galvan. After one inning of action, Alliance was up 5 to 1.

Post 6 went down in order in the second with Jayden Garcia recording one k. The Peltz Co continued to keep the pressure on in the bottom of the inning. Alliance had 4 runners who crossed home plate to move ahead by 8. Singles by O’Gorman and Nelson began the spree. Stull had an RBI ground out which made the score 6 to 1. The Spartans added 3 more runs in the home half of the inning thanks to knocks by Jayden Garcia, Israel Garcia, and Bair. Going to inning #3, the Peltz Co held a 9 to 1 margin. Still on the bump, Jayden Garcia struck out all 3 Braves in the third. The Braves did register a run to make it a 9 to 2 game.

Three more Spartan runs in the bottom of the third helped Alliance maintain this advantage. Kylar Adams started things with a double and later scored on another Nelson hit. O’Gorman had another knock before the hit the Nelson scoring single. The inning closed with 2 more runs after an RBI out by Stull and a Cheyenne passed ball.

In their final at bat, the Braves went down 1-2-3. Meanwhile, Alliance closed out the game with 2 more runs in the last of the fourth. Hits by Bair and Galvan set the stage for Alliance’s final scores. A Braves passed ball made the score 13 to 2. Action ended with another RBI knock by O’Gorman. Final Alliance 14 Cheyenne 2
