At approximately 2 a.m., the Chadron Police Department and the Dawes County Coroner were contacted to investigate the death of 72-year-old John Martinez of Chadron.
After a preliminary investigation, charges of first degree murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony were filed against Ian Little Moon, also known as Sage Little Moon, by the Dawes County Attorney.
The vehicle the suspect was believed to have been driving was found abandoned north of Chadron.
