A Gering passed ball moved Torres into scoring position and he later scored on an RBI hit by Ferguson. The Spartan second run came after an error by the hosts. Hits then by Walker and Galles ended the spree with the Peltz Co up 3 to 0. Gering then responded in a big way with 11 tallies in the bottom of the first. A two run double by Esai Trejo scored Galles and Flores as the Spartans continued to rally. Galles had a scoreless inning on the mound for Alliance in the bottom of the inning to keep the Spartans in striking distance. He recorded a strikeout in the frame. In their final at bat, Alliance got walks from Sonny Hernandez and Cisco Cody to start a rally. Walker then delivered again with an RBI hit that made the scoreboard read Gering 11 Alliance 8.
