1901: Nebraska beats Doane, 29-0, in a 35-minute game.
1906: Gil McDonald’s drop-kick for a field goal from the 40 yard line late in the second half lifts the Cornhuskers to a 4-0 win over South Dakota. Both sides were hampered on offense by a new rule requiring 10 yards instead of 5 for a first down.
1911: Nebraska scores at will in a 117-0 drubbing of Kearney Normal.
1916: Nebraska, running a Pacific Coast-style offense under coach Doc Stewart, opens the season with a 53-0 thrashing of Drake.
1926: NU opens the season with a 21-0 win over Drake on a soggy field.
1931: In a game attended by gangster Al Capone, Northwestern stuns Nebraska with three first-quarter touchdowns and coasts to a 19-7 win over the Cornhuskers.
1936: Lloyd Cardwell scores three touchdowns as the Cornhuskers open the season with a 34-0 over Iowa State. Sam Francis returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown after initially muffing the ball.
1941: The Huskers overcome a fumble-filled performance on offense for a 14-0 win at Iowa State.
1946: An early goal-line stand sets the tone as the Huskers limit Kansas State to 42 net yards of total offense in a 31-0 romp in Lincoln.
1951: The heavily favored Huskers escape with a 6-6 tie at Kansas State, but the Wildcats later forfeit the game because of an ineligible player, end Joe Norman.
1956: A late fumble recovery and George Harshman’s field goal with less than a minute left give Nebraska 9-7 over Iowa State.
1961: Sophomore Willie Ross rushes for 103 yards and three touchdowns as the Huskers shut out Kansas State, 24-0.
1966: Wayne Meylan’s punt block in the third quarter breaks open a tight contest as Nebraska pulls away from Wisconsin, 31-3.
1971: The Huskers pass for 239 yards and rush for 230 in a 42-6 win against Utah State in sunny Lincoln.
1976: Despite dominating the game statistically, Nebraska must come from behind in the fourth quarter to defeat Miami in Lincoln, 17-9.
1981: On a rainy Saturday, the Blackshirts shut down Auburn’s wishbone attack and set up both Husker touchdowns with fumble recoveries inside Auburn’s 10 yard line as Nebraska defeats the Tigers, 17-3.
1986: Bryan Siebler’s interception in the final minute snuffs a South Carolina rally and secures a 27-24 road win for the Huskers.
1996: DeAngelo Evans rushes for 168 yards as the Huskers crush Kansas State, 39-3, behind a dominating performance by the defense. The Wildcats managed just 86 net yards on offense.
2001: The Husker roll to a 41-0 halftime lead and cruise to a 48-14 win over Iowa State and quarterback Seneca Wallace.
2006: Cody Glenn and Brandon Jackson each top 100 yards rushing in a 28-14 Nebraska win at Iowa State.
2011: The biggest comeback in program history lifts the Huskers to a 34-27 win over Ohio State.
2016: Friends and colleagues share stories of Milt Tenopir at a celebration of his life at Memorial Stadium.
2021: Nebraska blasts Northwestern 56-7 at Memorial Stadium rekindling memories of days gone by and lighting the fuse for a dynamite crowd that will cheer on NU against eighth-ranked Michigan this coming Saturday night.
