Alliance’s white club fell on Tuesday to the Westco Express 7 to 4 in legion baseball action. The Spartans were up by 1 heading to the bottom of the sixth before the hosts put 4 in the score column in getting the win. With the loss, the Peltz Co now has a 19-3-1 record for the year. Alliance’s Mikey Johnson had 2 of the 5 hits for the Spartans. Pitching for the Peltz Co were starter Jaxon Poss who went 2.1 frames and reliever Nason Thompson.
No runs were tallied in the first. The Spartan offense did come alive in the top of the second. Alliance put 2 runs of the board to take the lead. Thompson reached after an error by the Express and advanced after a hit by Johnson. A sacrifice fly by Braeden Clarke made it 1 to 0. The Peltz Co then went up by 2 after a Westco passed ball. Scottsbluff threatened in the home half with a walk and single but a double play turned by the white squad ended the inning.
Inning #3 had the Spartans surge ahead by 3. A double by Creighton Fritzler started the scoring. Kegan Rodriguez was next and his hit was misplayed by the Express. Fritzler would score Alliance’s third run on the play. Scottsbluff countered with a 3 spot in the home half to tie the game at 3. The hosts used a pair of walks , a hit, and an error by Alliance to knot the game at 3 all.
A knock by Clarke gave the Peltz Co hope in the top of the fourth but he was stranded. Westco also failed to score in the fourth. Frame 5 was a scoreless inning. Alliance broke the tie in the sixth with one tally. An RBI double by Johnson made it a 4 to 3 contest. The Express answered back with 4 scores in their final at bat. Scottsbluff used two walks, two hits, an error by Alliance, and a sacrifice fly to go up 7 to 4. Teagan O’Gorman would single in the top of the seventh but failed to score. Final score.
