Fourth of July: Hot or Not?

Happy Fourth of July! This is normally one of the warmer times of year for us. Our average high is 87 degrees, but it’s very easy to get quite a bit warmer than that. Last year was certainly an exception.

In 2023, our high was a cool 71 degrees! Our high in 2022 was much warmer and was 94 degrees. We were even warmer in 2021 when we got to 97 degrees.

That’s the warmest Alliance has been on the Fourth of July since 2008 when it was 98! In 2020, we were warm once again with a 93-degree high. It was quite a bit cooler than normal in 2019 when our high was only 78 degrees. We did see some rain that day (0.09”. Some areas in the panhandle saw over an inch that day!) 2018 was another cool-ish day.

The high was only 81 degrees, but that’s closer to normal than the year before. It was actually a pretty nice Fourth of July! The year before was another hot one. In 2017 the high was a toasty 94 degrees. Then in 2016, it was another hot day with a high of 92 degrees. Overall, 6 out of the last 10 years have seen highs in the 90s.

Two years had highs in the 70s (2023 and 2019) and two years had highs in the 80s (2018 and 2014). So more often than not, the Fourth of July is a hot time of year!
