Friedrichsen Wins Outstanding Young Nebraska Journalist Award

On Saturday afternoon at the Nebraska Press Association Convention in Kearney, Shaun Friedrichsen was announced as the 2022 Outstanding Young Nebraska Journalist. The award was created in 2000 by Zean and Marilyn Carney, the former publishers of several Nebraska newspapers, to recognize young journalists throughout the state. Nominees are judged on professionalism, creativity and the impact of their work on print journalism. Friedrichsen, who is 29, owns the Alliance Times-Herald with his fiancee, Kathryn Kellar. Since purchasing the Alliance Times-Herald, they have worked to improve the publication while keeping the focus on recording local history as it occurs.
